Thanks How many do you want to run? :) Probably a 'magic' number like 256 less 1 for the router itself. Guessing here.

I suspect the bigger issue will be how many connections it can handle. Each peice of software connecting to the net at the same time. MSN, browsers, skype and all the bits of s/w looking for updates. I've seen 750 mentioned as max connections.

Hi does any one know how many pc's you can run off a wanadoo wireless router.Depends what you're doing with them :D The theoretical limit is quite high, hundreds, it also depends on the subnet mask if you're running DHCP. If you all want internet then the comfortable practical limit is around the 25 mark, most access points will handle 50 at a push but above that things do tend to slow down noticeably.

How many do you want? :D

ThanksNot sure what you mean by "wanadoo wireless connection", all you're interested in from Wanadoo is delivering the broadband to your telephone socket! From there stick any old broadband mode/router on it and hook it up to your Wanadoo account. 4 + 2 no problem at all, I've run much more than that on a single router! With the PC's, the print servers, the access point, the laptops, the PDA... I'm probably on about double that loading here :)

Are you talking about the Wanadoo Livebox? Wireless & Talk service?

If you're talking about the rather natty looking Livebox, then that device is a wireless router.

I connect two laptops, have connected two PCs, and I use two Apple airports as wireless clients to distribute printer, LAN & audio around the house.

You won't have a problem with 2 laptops & 2 PCs, but if you're taking the wanadoo package they only supply one USB wireless adapter (Windows support only), so you'll need to get something for your other PC.

I can't remember if wireless networks have an address space restriction, but the default address space 192.168.1.0/24 gives you theoretical 253 hosts allowing for the router itself. However, you don't want too many hosts on a wireless network or your throughput will drop to dial-up speeds as the 11Mbps or 54Mbps is shared bandwidth, and that assumes all your devices don't interfere with each other and all with perfect signal to run at full 54Mbps. Yeah right

However, looks like Wanadoo have reserved some address space as the DHCP server will only allocate from .9 up to .200 (though you can edit the default).

Still thats more than you're going to need, right? :D

:) According to the Wanadoo web site they state they call their wireless broadband router a "LiveBox".
They state that it can handle a max of 6 computers. Also XBox and PSP2's can be hooked up to it ofr on-line gaming.
Hope this bit of technogabble helps :D
