I had a lady come up on holiday a few weeks ago. She'd seen our site whilst researching Orkney for her trip and she got in touch and asked if she could come out with us. I took a day off, drove her to a few Orkney snorkelling locations and made a page and a video which I hope you enjoy:

Nice to see someone taking such a delight in the shallows, and not a bit of rust in sight!

Probably the best snorkelling website around: http://underwaterorkney.co.uk/ and now expanded with new features and articles.

Since I redesigned the site, there's been a tiny chunk of the Reginald (Built 1878 Glasgow, sunk 15.03.1915) in the header graphic :) There's a pontoon moored next to it with some amazing marine life clinging to its sides and bottom and fulmars nest on the wreck in the spring and summer. Here's a (crappy) pic of DMFs, mussels etc. with the ship's (surprisingly un-fouled) plating behind it.

Cheers HU1! (makes a note to slip you that fiver later!) :)

Hi, I am a newbie and have a great interest in snorkeling and I love Scotland too. Is it more private trips you organize or is there a company?

Hi Trac. There is a company - Scapa Scuba - that will cater for you. They'll hire you all the kit and you can either go out yourself or tag along with one of their 'try-a'dive' diving expeditions - they'll assign someone experienced to look after you. Alternatively you can come out with us. We're self employed writers/webdesigners so, if the sun's shining, the odds are we'll be in the ocean.

Hi Andy. The main reason for the knife (and I carry two) is fishing line which is alarmingly prevalant at some of my fave sites - especially the Churchill Barriers. Of course there is the walt/rambo angle too :) Kay hardly ever gets over to Pembrokeshire, which is a shame, but she's coming up again this summer for some more adventures.
