Hi, new to the forum! :D

I have just purchased a twinset with a "custom divers" slob knob. My friend also has a twinset, but without the slob knob.

As I am not qualified for Nitrox yet and my friend is, I am willing to lend him the slob knob until I need it myself. He wanted to buy one and I wasn't using mine as I don't have to isolate the bottles and mates are mates! ;)

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to remove them and fit a standard knob onto the manifold? There are 2 grubscrews that release the long extention part (which is on a screwthread), but the knob itself (located between the 2 bottles, attached to isolation valve in the manifold) doesn't seem to want to go anywhere.

Am I missing something?

TIA
Matt

Not sure what your friends use of Nitrox gives him a greater need for the remote lead.

In the event of a catastrophic failue you will need to isolate, otherwise you won't have any redundancy.

Can you reach all your valves to adequately shutdown?

If not, keep your remote lead for yourself... mates are mates, he'll understand!

If you really want to share, I'd suggest swapping cylinder sets instead of stripping down, they some time to set the distance correctly, you'll wish you hadn't started!

Sorry I can't be anymore help of the specifics of stripping the thing down

Best of Luck whatever you decide

In addition to Pauls response, the most important bit of which I have left in above - if you still want to remove the slob knob: Remove the flexible drive in the way you describe. Look down the hole where the drive screwed in and you should see screw the same as the one on a normal cylinder knob. Remove this and the everything should come apart.

Great, thanks!

I'm not sure why he wants one, but he does and I don't need one. he is also MEGA skint at the mo and I want to save him a few quid otherwise he'd be spending it on a brand new one.... I know him!
