Hi I am a student diver and have just completed my first pool session with the Lowestoft branch of the BSAC to become an ocean diver.
I am looking forward to gaining more experiance and learning from the members of the club and this forum.

Are Misters Connely, Owers, Whitlam & Boor treating you well?

I havent met everyone in the club yet but the people I have are treating my well. I have another pool session this friday, the problem I have is that I work on the rigs on a adhoc basis so I am a bit random on when I am home to get to attend lessons.
Eventually I will get it completed:rolleyes:

Hi Dave, I haven't managed to do my open water lessons yet as I work away so its a case of organising a time when I am home and my instructor is available.
I am a little nervous but looking forward to it, I think we are going to use stoney cove.
For now though its keep practising the drills and getting more comfortable in the water :-)

Sorry to hear of your delays mate, although there is no rush to get it done.. just have fun.
I didn't feel nervous at first.....kicked in as I turned in to Stoney and saw the huge dark pool of water (in Feb) and went twitchy straight away. The first dive calmed any nerves and then it was all fine :)

Its no problems about the delays, it allows me more time to keep practising etc. I was nervous when I done my first pool dive, it was a case of the unknown but after a while the nerves settled. I think it will be the same with stoney or gildy, I am used to a pool with 25m vis so again its a case of the unknown when it comes to those places. More like excited nerves I guess! :-)

Totally get the excited nerves....it's up there with the psycological need for a slash as soon as it's time to get into (or just got into) a dry suit.

Yesterday I completed my first 3 open water dives in Guildy and despite a few nerves I never made a bolt for the surface!
Vis was about 3m until I got involved and knocked clouds of silt into the water, got to work on my buoyancy.
First dive was along to the pool table for a couple of frames, next was along to the upper end of the bus and through the windows of that then finally it was down to the sky van at 16m, all with the usual drills, mask clearing and reg retrieval etc.
I really enjoyed and have to give thanks to Lowestoft BSAC club and to Glyn and Simon my instructors.
I am hoping to do my next 2 open water dives in Stoney, cant wait! :)

Well done Barry,
I just finished off my OD at Stoney today, you will enjoy it there (not been to Guildy for comparisson). Had an extra dive as well and did a jolly with one of the club instructors with a swim through in the Stanegarth.
Hope all goes well for you again on your next 2 dives, good luck and have fun! :D
