The Guide for Scuba Diving Enthusiasts
[Link Removed]

Edit : By Keith Lawrence - Forums Manager

I see an awful lot of these "please provide my site content for me" type of sites where the people cannot be bothered to do the work themselves. This particular site was a simple links directory, it didn't list any of the BSAC web sites, which shows just how much the author knows about diving! (No, we're not going to do it for you). This forum is not a mechanism to push your own pet site, I consider such actions as just spam. If people want to use our facilities for such things then as a minimum I expect at least a link to us!

Hey Paul! Mind if I put that link on my site together with the BSAC logo and if you have it a logo for the BSAC forums and some text......... will get you on Top of my links page.............Not necessary for reciprocal link...........

Thx

...but then if somebody found me they can probably find BSAC on their own.

I have no problem a all... It may be worth you asking directly with the admins tho!We dont mind at all! Very nice of you if you would. On that note (and also to Nigel this one) - how about we set up a 'Members Pages' category in our Links section to list the personal diving sites that many of our forum members have?

It all comes down to "reasonableness", that isn't something that you can write rules about. The Sys Admins take a very relaxed view on stuff like this, we're pretty easy going, it just depends if people take the p*ss. The link that started this little thread for instance - the guy comes out of nowhere, doesn't contribute, just posts a "Wow, look at my site!" post. I noticed that, I thought that was taking the mickey somewhat.

Then there's Nigel and 'Argo' with their personal sites, regular and helpful contributers to the forums, but with a simple link in their signature. Nobody minds that, good luck to you - we've been hit pretty heavily by the search engines this past few weeks so I hope it's bumped up your rankings. Be nice if you did reciprocate, but nobody is going to jump up and down if you dont want to.

If you're linking to your own commercial or semi-commercial site then personally I think it "fair do's" that you link back to us though, same goes for other forum sites you promote via your signatures (see other thread). But then again we're not going to get anal about it, you only really get noticed when there's stonking great signatures and your posts are more signature than content!

It all comes down to "reasonableness" as I've said, and I don't think that I'm being unreasonable in mentioning it :)

Cheers All

You can turn off your ruddy auto-responder or register on a different address as well :D That nice "notify me of replies" subscription you've just put on? Well guess who is receiving the autoresponder replies

OK Keith I got your point and Im glad to say that I'm also a reasonable person and thats why, up til now, I have restricted the link to my "Semi - Commercial" site in my signature and not plastered it all over the place........I am also Admin of a DiveProInfo site but won't mention that here. Nuf Said! I'm happy to be of help by putting a couple of links up for you (BSAC). There was also a question that I asked on another thread, perhaps you or one of the other Admins could find the time????
