View Full Version : Hello from Norway
Hi all,
I have been on here a few times and left some comments but haven't had chance to introduce myself. I am a sport's diver, and been diving for 16 years on and off so not what you would call a "seasoned diver". Moved from the UK to Norway three years ago to Hedmark near Lake Mjøsa before moving to Bergen a few months back for a job here. Been diving in the Fjørds a few times and love it here.
I am always up for meeting new people and diving any time of the day or night here. If anyone if visiting Bergen or lives here please drop me a line as I am eager to gain a dive buddy.

Hi Eddie, and Niel,
ex RN? oh dear, I ex RAF lol I could only imagine beer calls in the local talking about times abroad. I did my sport's diver at Bovi Sands, do you know of that place? 0 viz on a good day and as black as night 1 meter down.
Niel: I left you a message with my details but forgot to say I am in Slettebakksveien in Bergen, only 10-15mins away from Nemo dive centre. I haven't dived any wrecks here yet due to being limited to not having a boat... and only having a 12 ltr cylinder at present (I will be getting a 15 ltr but as you can imagine it costs something like £300 for one here).

Do I know Bovi? :D Did my SADS course there then later some pre dive training before we went to Mombasa as a Joint Service Exped to excavate a wreck in front of Fort Jesus and the Mombasa Club. :)

I can still rememer the food that was served, awful and not a great deal after a full day's diving and lectures. We had an RAF dive leader who used to wind up the ex Royal Marine. Gave us some amusement on the dingy. What years were you active? You don't, by any chance know of JSU Northwood? That was my first station aka HMS Warrior

My main time at Bovi was during 1976 . Still an active diver.
I was down the hole in Warrior from 1982-84 - JMIC. :)

I was MT in '98-'02, I well aware of the NCC lol. People still get the "mole syndrome" when leaving for the day.

Hi Chris,
Archeology sounds very interesting, Sadly I am more into molecular cell biology. Do you conduct scientific dives?

Congratulations for him. What career is he intending on taking? I just finished my MSc here and it doesn't get any easier in job hunting.
I am led to believe the deepest an air diver can go while conducting a scientific dive is 12 meters. Is this true?
