Hi
We're going in April when we are in Capetown but we only have one day. This is what I know about 1 day cage diving trips from there. You can either dive Dyer Island or there are also day trips to Seal Island which is nearer Capetown in False Bay - this is where you can see them breach most often. The location visited seems to depend on the time of the year.
In the summer month the Great White move away from the islands and are found closer to the shore. At Seal island the operators are not allowed to operate away from the island as there are a lot of public beaches. So they close their Seal Island operation between October and April each year. At Shark Alley(Dyer) they do not have the same problem as they are allowed to do the cage diving closer to the shore.
I had a good look round and booked with Unrealdive. They're website is

Have found them incredibly efficient so far and very knowledgeable and helpful.
They run much longer expeds if you have more time and they sound wonderful.
You can also dive with Great Whites at the Farallon Islands which are off the coast of California from San Francisco and Isla Guadaloupe off the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
If you look in our Creature Planning Section
http://www.bsactravelclub.co.uk/divebystyle/style3.html
you will see a section on diving with white sharks and where they are by month - might give you some ideas.
All the best
Alison
PS yes, I will be writing a trip report! :)

Check out a dive report and pics on our club site posted by Rob McKenzie. The reports are on the bottom of the first page and include links to some of the operators. They may be a little old now tho'
I think he's also posted the same on the BSAC travel Cub site.

I would definately advise off the california coast in the pacific, ive seen a documentary on tv before. Some of you might have recalled it. It lasted a whole week doing different things each night, Sharks live i thinkw as the title. The vis was awesome and plenty of sharks.

OH wow heaps of info, maybe i will drop a line to unrealdive. Not sure yet for the destination though. I found Mike Ball can organise this too, expeditions are led by Rodney & Andrew Fox, Australia's successful leaders of Great White Shark. www.rodneyfox.com.au/expeditions.htm
So many places i have to think about which one i would go for it ? South Africa, Australia or off California Coast.
Thanks for all posts again.
