I wonder whether you could stretch to TWO prizes Steve ? :)

We are about to enable web advertising on the BSAC web sites, what we need are some BSAC space fillers... Ideally a 468x60 full banner, .gif or .jpg is fine, no more than 50KB please. That will be seen on the most pages, although just about anything from our current list on http://adverts.bsachq.com/standard.html will do! I will add them to our AdServer, they will display on several BSAC web sites when we have the space. Let me know what the alt text and destination URL is (ths forum?).

Steve's call as to whether he wants this, but I'll find you the space on other BSAC web sites to display a BRB logo.

Keith L

While we are at it Keith any chance of a decent BSAC banner?
The website clipart ones are pretty naff and there's nothing worth knicking
from any BSAC site.

Nicked from the BRB thread as this one deserves a topic all of it's own!

In fact, ANYBODY - go ahead, let's see what you come up with :) A general logo competition (with a prize) was something I had planned for when we launch our Gallery section. I agree with you Terry, they are rubbish, as soon as something better comes along we'll have it.

I'd be tied to the mast of a dive boat and publicly lashed if I suggested that he needed updating for the 21st century and web site use. But... ummm... errr... watch this space as they say :D

Get it videoed and make it into a big GIF.
A good flogging always gets noticed.

Nooooooo, animated logos are evil! While i'm typing this all I notice is the "manta ray/great white/dolphin" animated advert flashing away at the top of the page - horrible!
* I generally scroll down a bit to cut the top of the page off *

Although, the Neptune logo is very "old" looking (looks like it was designed to be drawn with a stencil or something, before computers existed), so a nice new version for the whole of BSAC would be an idea... as long as it didn't move!

I'm sure that somewhere (I can't for the life of me find where) Keith asked for some banners which could be used to direct traffic here. As a first crude effort, how about this:

Oooohhh... I LIKE that! Here's what I'd like to do with that one, and any others that come along for that matter...

As part of the Web Advertising project we have a dedicated ad server sending out banners and buttons to our different web sites, that's how you're getting the LIDS banner at the top of this page. I'll collect together anything suitable and load it into the ad server, it will handle multiple banners, then when we get space we'll farm it out to the other BSAC web sites.

OK with you Ben?

It's very easy to change the text if anyone can think of something better.

I can't do it...but could the "come & join us..." bit run through other sets of text?

So that it can scroll through all the different forum titles?

Perhaps highlight the benefits of membership (forum and/or BSAC)

I like the simplicity and freshness of the format though:)

Hi folks

Right! I've stolen the two we've had so far - I'm going to use those on other BSAC web sites when we've got the space free. You can see them here http://adverts.bsachq.com/forums.shtml, the 'COMMON' bit at the top is just a random selection, space below for many more :)

Have a look at http://adverts.bsachq.com/standard.html as well, we haven't quite decided which ones we'll use but the Full Banner, Half Banner, Square Button and possibly the big Vertical Tower will probably be used.

What you're actually seeing on those URL's is part of the BSAC Web Advertising project, it's our AdServer sending those banners out. It's primary purpose is to generate some revenue for the club. BUT... we've decided to use it for our own PR as well, we'll be using unsold advertising space to promote BSAC events. In practice if you're flexible as to what and where we should be able to find some space for you somewhere.

An open offer has already gone out to the regions, Steve's BRB is a prime candidate for this type of thing. So if you've got a major BSAC event such as a regional conference or the BRB then we can help you promote it. Our Advert Server is a members resource - you provide us with the buttons and banners and we'll do our best to advertise you on the BSAC web sites!

Contact Mary at HQ in the first instance, she's putting together various in-house BSAC advertising campaigns, you can have your very own campaign if you need it.

HTH

Keith L

p.s. I think that Adrian should take a bow at this point. He's on our WebAd team and this very powerful AdServer system is his idea and his doing. He doesn't only do forums you know :)

Very impressive. Nice one Adrian. (Apparently he doesn't do GUE either, but I'm sure he's still a good diver despite that). :)

I really really like the TC one on the home page which says Surf Before You Dive! Would like that as the de facto link for TC - also a banner version if anyone is clever enough to make one of those!!!
