Hi all,

This has got to be the most active forum ive found yet on diving, and it's great to see that it's actually active!

I'm reasonably new to scuba having only completed my PADI OW course six weeks ago, but I'm looking at getting into a BSAC club prefferably located close to where I reside in South Nottinghamshire. Hopefully a club will allow me to meet the people and ultimately do the diving that we are all here to do.

My father used to be a BSAC instructor and as a child I was always tought to be confident in the water, and had my water skills honed through his expertise. Why I didn't get into scuba earlier I don't know, as it is all that I ever imagined it to be. I'm only 23 now, so I suppose better late than never. :D

Being close to Stoney Cove obviously offers brilliant opportunities, with a dive buddy who I met from there, but through clumsyness he's managed to fracture his first stage. Though he is getting it repaired, I'm sure it always a good thing to have as many dive buddies as possible.

Will be great to talk to you, and I anticipate good times ahead.

Yours,

Grant Smith.

Welcome to the forum.

Quite a few of us also post on Yorkshire Divers, where postings can be a little tongue in cheek......

Hope you enjoy yourself here.

Thanks guys. So how do you guys go about getting your dives in? I look around and I see people making it look easy. Making friends is the easy bit I guess, once the ball starts rolling, it keeps on rolling? It's getting it going thats the difficult bit?

I was supposed to be going to Stoney today, weather would have been perfect for it too.

Shame about Stoney.

I began diving with a club many years ago and never looked back. These days, despite popular opinion :), I am still diving, sometimes locally here in Selsey but mostly abroad. Most recent trips on Red Sea liveaboards and a little stay diving Ningaloo Reef, Oz.

My editing of BSAC travel reports also transports me to foreign climes. From my computer here today I have been in the Seychelles, Galapagos and Chuuk Lagoon  ;)

Best wishes

Welcome aboard.

You'll find your local BSAC Clubs here (http://www.bsac.com/page.asp?section=2164&sectionTitle=Branch+Lists).

Go see what they have to say (if there's more than one) because not all clubs are equal (just as you're also an individual).
