Hi
I went diving in Cyprus last year near the Pathos region, with a dive centre called Polis Diving, if anyone is looking for a company near Polis/Latchi to dive with I would highly recommend BSAC members diving with them, they are very reasonably priced and the staff are very competent and friendly, making diving a very enjoyable sport.

Thanks for that Alex - always best to go with someone who has been recommended.

Even better to have trip report - can you do one of those for us? (and perhaps tell us more about yourself in the report - and in your profile) so that we can see how well your needs might reflect our own?

Looking forward to hearing from you again!

John

Hi
My diving in Cyprus was part of a summer holiday last year, I was still training in England for BSAC ocean diver at the time, but nearly qualified and the diving was only down to about 13 meters. The BSAC lady who is BSAC instructor at Polis diving took me down and although at the time she couldn't do any training with me as they had only just started up as a centre she took me to do several dives of the amphitheatre and Fontana Amarosa, this introduced me more to doing see dives and what diving abroad could be like in comparison to the UK.

Since my visit in the summer, I have qualified as Ocean Diver and hopefully by this summer as Sports Diver where me and several other members (Sports Divers and Dive Leaders) of the club I am with in the UK are hoping to return to Polis Diving, for a Diving holiday. This time we should be able to dive wrecks ranging down to 30/35 metres and from the boat as since last summer Polis Diving have bought a boat which should accommidate 6/8 divers on day trips.

Hope this gives a bit more information.
Happy Diving
Alex

Having lived in Cyprus for 2 years now I can utterly recommend using any of the following dive centres:

Viking Divers - Dhekelia
Octopus Divers - Dhekelia
Dive-In - Larnaka

We use them all the time for our dives on the Zenobia (and other places).

Zenobia dives go down to 42m at the propellers.......

Dive-In Larnaca (on Piale Pascha) is on the sea-front directly opposite the wreck. They are experts on the Zen, fully PADI, BSAC, TDI, RYA etc... They rent two buoys on the wreck and because of the location are usually the first boat on the wreck in the morning.

I learnt to dive with them and cannot recommend them highly enough.

My vote is for Dive-In, Larnaca.

The boss, Chris Demetreou, is a veritable fountain of knowledge, and the most skilled diver and instructor as I have ever got wet with. His team are highly skilled too, and can cover TDI, BS-AC and Padi courses. Most are ex-UK and ex-military instructors.

My Wife and I have holidayed in Cyprus for the past 5 years for a week in May and will always dive the Zen with Dive-In. The rest of southern Cyprus, much like the Med in general, is very depleted of fish so the Zen is the place to go as it attracts a fair number of species who make their home in and around the wreck. I can't comment about Northern Cyprus as I have never visited the dive sites there.

If Chris and his team feel that you are not quite up to any specific Zen dive that you particularly want to do, he is not afraid to decline - I wanted to look around in the lower cargo deck - a deep and complicated penetration zero light dive that only Dive-In Larnaca will enter - but it was felt that I was not sufficiently dived-up. BTW I am a DL with Ext Range albeit not in regular practice before this years holiday to Cyprus. Safety before profit.

At the other end of the diving scale, when my Wife wanted to finish off her Ocean Dive practicals and later her Sports practicals, she was royally put through her paces to properly prepare her for UK diving.

Only one problem for me - The early start times do interrupt my much needed holiday sleep.....
