John asked why I had posted what I had, simple, there has been more interest, visits and entries in the Snorkelling Forum in the last couple of days than there has been since the Forum was started on the old web site. Some was tongue in cheek, some were the feelings expressed by Snorkellers, I'll leave you to work out which is which.

If anyone has been truly upset by any of the comments made I apologise, but hey get a life, both Scuba and Snorkelling are supposed to be fun, that's why we do it.

All of us are divers, just that some can do it without a clumbersome tank and the worry of deco stops, don't have time when snorkelling.

Fun or not some serious points have been made over the last couple of days, so need addressing and I will evdeavour to take these on.

Good diving, which ever sport,

Bob

That's generally called "trolling". Yes, it will get more people to read stuff (for a while, at least), but you almost always get a reaction to it.

I am one of those people who visited the Snorkelling Forum as a result of seeing the "hot topic" icons in the New Post section; I read some of what has been posted here, and I've gone away with an impression of at least one Snorkelling proponent that you'd probably rather I hadn't. Suffice it to say that, although you've increased traffic to this forum, you might well have reduced interest in snorkelling generally.

Ah. The "GetALife" phrase. If you were genuinely apologising above, do you realise what effect that has on your message? And if you weren't genuine in your apology, do you realise what effect that has as well?

both Scuba and Snorkelling are supposed to be fun, that's why we do it.

Indeed. Yet for some reason, I fail to consider it "fun" when someone tells me to GetALife. I doubt I'm unique there, but you never know...

Vic.

Hey - chill out folks :D I'm just as guilty as Bob of trolling, call it revenge for the snorkellers having a go at me and Bob complaining about the lack of snorkelling content :) It's been useful actually IMHO, what has slightly surprised me is the lack of understanding of snorkelling within the BSAC, if it takes a little prod to get them to speak up for themselves then so be it!There have already been some very positive results from this thread, Allie has picked up some more snorkelling reports for the TC, we've got at least one guy off to visit a snorkelling branch to see what it's all about. All good stuff that can only, as Bob has pointed out, increase the visibility of snorkelling and the awareness of it.

So I'll certainly forgive Bob (this time...), just don't make too much of a habit of it ;) And there is life on the snorkelling forums, they're on here because it's about time we heard more from the snorkellers themselves.

Cheers all, and calm... calm... calm...

Thanks Keith, Promise to behave in future. The only disappointing thing was the lack of actual snorkellers having their say. Perhaps they will catch up to the 21st Century sometime and get computers, damn forgot, don't use them for snorkelling. LOL
