Thinking of a trip there November-ish. 1 week Isle of Yout and 1 week either Maria La Gorda or Faro de Luna. However, I'm hearing mixed messages about the quality of both the diving and the dive operators there. Can anyone who has been there please comment?

The wife and I did the Isle of Youth in April. (we also did Santiago de Cuba/Siera Mar to dive Christobal Colon and a short trip to Havana)

I have put pictures on my website in the gallery section. divesR.us (the early ones are Santiago and the later ones are the isle of youth)

I thought the diving at the Isle of Youth was quite nice really. And the hotel Colony was clean and well maintained. The hotel food was pretty poor though at the Colony. (Was very good at the Sierra Mar)

We dived out of Colony Marina (a mile form the hotel) Took between 1 hour to 2 hours on the boat to get out to the dive sites. It is not the Red Sea but I thought the sea life was good there.

The Dive Guides were good and fairly laid back. Although the wife and I had a guide to ourselves because we were a bit slow with the cameras and all. The food on the boat was better than the hotel too.

Our BSAC Cuba 'where to dive' page is sadly out of date and in need of an update :o. Cuba is on my wish list of places to go but Cayman is currently on there before it :p

Contains some old reports you can click on at: http://www.bsac.com/divelocations.asp?itemid=814&itemTitle=Cuba&section=1218&sectionTitle=The+Caribbean

Enjoy your holiday :)

Have just arranged a trip to Cuba for our club in March 2012 through The Scuba Place. We will visit Guardalavaca, Havana and Varadero. They specialise in Cuba diving and you could contact them for info. Speak to John http://www.thescubadivingplace.co.uk/ - they are on the BSAC travel partner list
