Penny Glover

It is with great sadness that the British Sub Aqua Club conveys the news that Penny Glover and her buddy failed to surface from a dive in the south of France on Monday 21st November. An extensive search was conducted that day, and is ongoing, but neither diver has yet been located and both are presumed lost.

Penny held the highest qualifications to be awarded by the BSAC. She was both a National Instructor and First Class Diver. She was also a leading Rebreather Instructor with other diving organisations. Penny, in her support and love of the BSAC, volunteered over many years, as a branch member, as a Regional Coach for Northern Europe, as a Council member and as an Instructor Trainer.

Penny is perhaps best remembered for her chosen vocation in promoting rebreather diving to everyone she met. Within the BSAC, she worked hard to progress the recognition of rebreather diving and was instrumental in the development of BSAC Rebreather courses. Her unconditional generosity, enthusiasm and energy for diving were without limits.

Clare Peddie, BSAC National Diving Officer said :

"This is an extremely sad loss for all of us who have been privileged to know Penny, her warmth and kindness will be so deeply missed. Penny was a leading light in the BSAC and she was highly regarded throughout the whole diving community. My thoughts are with all the friends and families of both divers."

Dear All

To give everyone who knew Penny an opportunity to say a final few words and hopefully for her family to gain some solace from understanding the impact of her loss on the whole diving community, we are beginning a book of condolence.

The book will reside at BSAC Headquarters Telford's Quay, South Pier Road, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire CH65 4FL, United Kingdom from Monday 28th November until Friday 2nd December.

On Saturday 3rd December, the book will be in London for the whole day in the downstairs foyer outside the main hall of the Diving Officer's Conference, institute of Education, London University, 20 Bedford Way, London and will be accessible to people not attending the conference.

For those who are unable to attend either venue in person, we are also going to gather together electronic messages. Please send these to inmemory@bsac.com
