First Class Diver – Exam & Practical – Philippines - 16 - 23rd Oct 2011
(Deadline for registration is 4th July, deposits by the 11th July)
Costs per person = Approx 800 gbp / person + flights
Hotel (Full board, dormitory style accomo.) = 255 gbp
Diving (budget estimate of 10 x boat dives) = 200 gbp
½ NI’s flights = 250 gbp
+ spending money = Approx. 100 gbp
Total = 800 gbp + flights (500gbp Deposit Required)

Monday / Tuesday – Practice / Prep

Thursday / Friday – Exam - FCD Task

The Details
Calculations are based on a course of 4 candidates and 2 NIs...... so a 2:1 ratio......
Flights
- obviously your own flight, plus half the NI's flights
Approx Flights costs:
Australia / NZ to Manilla – 500 gbp
Hong Kong to Manilla – 250 gbp
Singapore to Manilla – 250 gbp
London to Manilla – 550 gbp
Transport
- Nearest airport is Manilla, the journey to the resort is a 2-hour van ride plus a 1.5hr ferry ride
- Van hire is 3000 peso each way, so assuming 3 in a van is 12 Sterling per person, each way
- Public ferry to resort is a few hundred pesos. Worst case is having to hire your own 'banca' which is 3200 peso each way which is 15 gbp per person, each way.
Accommodation
- The accommodation is a self-contained facility with dorms, dining room, and pumping station. http://www.llbc.com.ph/index.shtml
- FULL BOARD is 1500 peso (22 Sterling) per person per day.
- For all 8 days including paying for half the NIs F&B is 255 Sterling
Food and Drink
Beer Price is approx: 60p a bottle
Meals: Typically 2-3gbp a meal if eating out
Diving

• Twin fill is 220 peso - 3.12 Sterling

FCD Tasks - TBC
Diving is reef based, tidal, lots of drift dives and the odd wreck. There are shelters bays if required.
Possible tasks will be a marine life survey or research for the writing of a Dive Magazine report, such as organising an FCD exam and practical in the middle of nowhere, with a bunch of people from all over Asia Pacific and Oceania.
