Im sure this has been done to death, but i thought i would ask the question..I have a custom diver HID umbilical torch and the bulb has decided to give up. I have been on their website and a new 10w HID pre 2009 bulb will cost me £109.56 +postage. Now im no skin flint and if i really have to i would pay the money....but i find it hard to believe that they are the only supplier in the country for this bulb. So my question is does anybody know where i can get one from (UK). I have seen some links to a manufacturer in the US called walamp but im not sure what im looking at when i look on their site.

P.S why the heck are they so expensive? gram for gram im sure they'd cost more than gold!!

I *think* they use Welch Allyn bulbs. You can buy them direct from the manufacturer but you have to buy them in multiples of (IIRC) tens which doesn't make it viable for a replacement one-off unless you can find a stockist.

If it is a Welch Allyn then they are the same as used in Halcyon torches so you can get them from DIR Direct amongst others (still not cheap mind you) so you at least get them in the UK and can be sure you won't get stung for import duty.

Aberdeen Watersports list a replacement Custom Divers bulb for £95 which does not look like the WA one to me but again it has the advantage of being a UK source

I had a CD 10w fixed focus a couple of years ago and couldn't find a publically available other source for them

I posted on YD about it and luckily someone had a spare and was willing to sell it on
