Nice to see the cross over to the main forums page. Hopefully snorkelling will be more widely recognised here, and not seen as the inferior little brother.That's why I wanted you here Nick :) Some months ago when discussing our new forums system with Bob I said this is where you should be - as an integrated part of our club. But a lot of it is up to the snorkellers, we can't write it for you! Carol has made a brilliant start with her snorkelling trip reports, that's created a brand new snorkelling category within Travel Club. There's loads more you could do - for example our links section over on http://www.bsacforum.co.uk/forums/links/ hasn't got a snorkelling links section. Why not? Because nobody has asked for one! We hope to have a picture gallery running within a month or so - a snorkelling section? Well... somebody has got to ask for it and then provide the pictures. Snorkelling trips? I don't see any yet in the forums calendars...

The bottom line, as Bob has alluded to, is that it's up to you to make a noise. If the snorkellers want to be a little known backwater within the BSAC then fine, people are quite happy to let you be that - your call. So my message to the snorkellers is quite simple : Blow your own trumpet, because no other b*gger is going to blow it for you!

Sorry if that sounds a little harsh Nick but that's the reality of the situation. As valued club members all of these facilities are available to you, you have the full support of the club for what you do, but it's up to you (who know the snorkelling side of things a damn sight better than the likes of me) to actually do it. So if you want something on here for snorkelling then just ask, but if you want something like a vibrant and active snorkelling forum then that is something that the SysAdmins and Council can't really help you with :)

Hi Nick,

It will only be more recognised if more Snorkellers come out of the water and join in on the Forums and put their views forward. One contributor thought all snorkellers were scuba divers, how wrong can they be, but it is up to us to show them.
