A couple from Bishop Auckland have been arrested after Police recovered most of a batch of stolen Typhoon diving suits, with many of them being recovered from Otter watersports in Bradford.

Unfortunately for the thieves most of the 67 suits had not been booted or valved and so were unsaleable, so despite having tried to sell them to a few local retailers, who obviously realised that there was something wrong and contacted Typhoon, they only recently reappeared on ebay after Otter had booted and valved 10 suits and the police were able to arrest the sellers and then recover the next 10 suits from Otter.

A total of 43 suits have been recovered and so there are still another 24 suits unaccounted for and divers are being asked to look out for them and let us (Typhoon) know if they see any suspicious TCS or Seamistress suits for sale.

Surely Otter must have realised that something was up before sorting and selling so many?

Hope they find the rest, its hard enough to make a living at the moment without losing a load of stock.

Brett you have to remember that companies that do really good drysuit repairs, are always busy. I know that Otter receive a silly amound of suits in every week because they are quick, charge a fair price, the quality of their work is good and the suit is back with the customer with no delay. Otter know their onions when it comes to suit manufacturer / repair. Therefore it's not unusal to have 17 suits arrive in from one customer for amends, etc. And I talk to a number of drysuit manufacturers and they all get many requests that we would consider odd.

Otter were utterly blameless and just as much the victim here as Tyhpoon, both companies have lost because this theft. Otter had a customer walk in with a number of suits requesting suit repairs to fix them on the customer's behalf. They were doing this until it transpired that the suits were stolen, so they didn't sell a single one.

Ok, sorry, I misunderstood, I thought that Otter had bought them off somone and had then sold them on.
