Hi, I'm new on this site, and I am off to Egypt very soon and just wondered how the waters were for snorkalling. I've heard the red sea is very good for clear waters etc. I have snorkalled for fun before, but would like to get more in to it, and just wondered if it is really worth getting a formal qualification or whether I can just pick it up as I go along.

Thanks

Stuart

Egypt wow the Mecca of diving lucky you contect a diving shop near you and ask if they do a short couple of hours snorkelling course it would be well worth it the main thing is to be comfortable in the water at any depth and then having to abilty to duck dive to get down deeper, you may need a weight belt, this is were the training comes in handy.
If you do not feel comfortable in deep water you still will not miss out if you brought a snorkelling vest can be brought on the web at http://www.simplyscuba.com just type in the "find box" snorkel vest ?29.95
Have fun, but you will have better fun if you went on a course
