I wont be going abroad for me hols this year, so thought I'd do a bit of snorklin' here in the UK (but I think I'll wait 'til the weather warms up)
Anyone know of some good sites? I've heard that pembrokeshire has some good ones.

Also, if anyone's interested in meeting up, I'm sure having a
snorkel-buddy is a good idea.

Do any of you snorkellers/freedivers use an SMB or similar buoy to show you're in the water? i guess you'd have to just leave it floating rather than tow it around. I was just wondering as I dont really fancy being hit by a jet ski....

One last thing - having never snork'ed in chilly british water before - is wearing a 3mm full wetsuit enough? I have thought about getting a Scubapro S tek 1.5mm shortie undersuit (?42) to wear under the 3mm - maybe that's enough ? or should I stop being a tightwad and go get a proper 5mm?

Take a look on www.stroudbsac.org for a dive report on the message board. If nothing else its entertaining.

Hi Andy,

There are some good sites around Anglesey, we normal take a group of kids and adults there during the summer.

We must all be real wimps as we wear 7 mm two piece Semi-Dry suits, everyone stays warm so it means a long and happy dive.

Cheers

I certainly would n't go out in anything less than 5mm, but not too much more as you may have to carry a lot of lead.

SMB's are essential,so can be seen by passing boats, the beach Marshalls and they can also come in handy for supporting tired snorkellers.

Our favourite sites are in the Dorset area.
