Hi all,

Is it possible to combine a Poseidon Cyklon 5000 2nd stage with an Apeks XTX200 1st stage?

Thanks,
Ken Loon

Hi Ken,

The Cyklon 5000 2nd stage is designed to work at an intermediate pressure of 11.5 bar, whereas the XTX200 1st stage is designed to work at an intermediate pressure of 9.5 bar.

The Poseidon website FAQ states that 1st and 2nd stages with differing intermediate pressures should not be mixed.

Thanks Tristan... I understand that you can't use a lower IP 2nd stage with a higher IP 1st stage, but if the 1st stage is lower (IP) than the 2nd stage, it should be ok right?

Best regards,
Ken Loon

I would imagine that the performance of the 2nd stage would be affected if the intermediate pressure is not set correctly for it. You may be able to adjust the first stage pressure to match the required pressure for the second stage, but how that would affect the performance of the first stage I wouldn't know.

Given that the manufacturer recommends that you don't do this I would have to say I'd be inclined to listen to them. Why not take both bits to your local dive shop and ask them?

Cheers,
Tristan

Why would you want to/need to do this?

Bung both bits on Ebay and use the money to buy a new ATX40/DS4 combo...
