Hi there, my name is Nick, and i'm 19 from Southampton, Hampshire. I've been snorkeling a few times out in the Med, aound Spain and The spanish islands.

I'm starting university in September, so i've not been able to go abroad, and i duobt i'll be able to for a few year, but would still love to do some snorkeling along the South coast, aroung the Solent or surrounding areas.

Does anyone have any advice as to where to go? Would be great to meet some people to go with!!

Hope to hear from you soon!!

Nick

http://www.bsacsnorkelling.co.uk/training/branches.htm lists Snorkelling Branches. There is one listed in Southampton.

Personally I think the best sites are a little further along in Dorset . These include:_
Swanage old/new piers , good for beginners and the more experienced. The piers usually attract a lot of marine life.

Kimmeridge Bay is a marine reserve and is very popular with Snorkellers and divers. Several different dives are possible here depending upon experience.

Worborrow Tout/Pondfield (accessible from Tyneham) ? Probably for medium experienced (access is slightly tricky across rocks)

Lulworth/Stairhole ? very experienced only Swim from Lulworth into Stairhole ? the tide needs to be right.

Man O? War/Durdle Dor ? Very steep climb from carpark but worth the effort . The ManO?War cove is spectular and good for all levels . Swimming round to go through the ?Dor? is only for the more experienced in a group.

Hope these help
