Dear All,
Some of you may have seen in DIVE magasine or other publications about a new dive centre opening soon near Cheapstow Monmouthshire. Looks like it could be a very good rival to Stoney.
Having looked at their web site, see below, I noticed that they had apparently forgotten juniors, snorkellers and freedivers in their prices. If it is a good as they say it is, it would be an ideal place for snorkellers, as it ranges in depths from 8m+ (max 80m for those that are interested).
It would be a lot closer for many clubs in GB than stoney and as a result might be a safer and better option than going to the sea for a first dive. It has all facilities, including dive shop, rescue boat and food etc.
We are still waiting for an officail open date but watch this space, hopefully just as the openwater season starts in earnest.
I have spoken with the owners regarding my concerns about the costings as it was ?12 each per day. I explained that snorkellers would not be able to afford such prices and after all would not necessarily take full advantage of their facilities such as recompression chambers etc.
They put my concerns to the board and agreed that they had forgotten about us.
They have appologised about this and have agreed that a 50% discount be given to juniors, snorkellers and freedivers. It has now ben offically stated on thier web site.
I know its still going to be around ?6 each but its better than ?12 and could be an interesting place to dive.
happy Bubbling
