Dear Divers

I have spaces available for the dives listed below. You can book onto individual ones, days or any combination. We will be diving off of Neptune which is a stable hardboat with lift. We will return to Dover between dives for lunch and fills can be arranged at Shorncliffe Dive Centre which is a 10 min drive away. We usually get 2-3 hours ashore between dives and a surface interval of 5 hours.

We have some excellent neap tides and currently have some cracking viz with 5-7m at 30m deep and no need for a torch last week. We generally get some cracking dives in during April before the May bloom kicks in. Water temp is also rising very well and should be in double figures by then :)

We will be diving in busy shipping areas and all dives are return to shot, which is generally not too hard on a Sub. Bookings are made on a "If you books you pays" agreement however if i can fill slots which is often the case i will. If you want directions to Dover Marina and the pontoon etc then send me an email i will attach a directions Doc.

The Subs are all German except the British B2, UB's are attack boats, UC's are Mine layers, most are WW1 B2 is pre-WW1, U40 is WW2:-

A UB Class:-

A UC Class - Mine chutes at the front and external torpedo tubes.

More details on some of the wrecks here:- http://www.canterburydivers.org.uk/wrecks.html

OK looks like i have finally cleared the way with the French to dive the 5 Subs on the list that are in French waters, these will be no lifting dives as its illegal in French waters and we will probably have a Gendarmes boat in close attendance.

The French wrecks are Unknown UC off Calais, UC78, U40, UB29/39, UC26.

Hi Paul
Myself and Pete are interested in joining you on the 0600 meet dive on Fri
29th. I assume you are diving the UB109 as the second suggested dive of the day is deeper? If this is correct are there any other spaces available as there has been interest expressed by other club members?

Hi Garry

It looks like we may have to go out a bit further on Fri now as we have lost the inshore viz as all the crude from the Goodwins has blown down. At the moment i am looking to do the following on Fri subject to confirming with those already booked on:-

Friday is looking doable however i need to change the first dive to something further out so am planning on the U8, a big Sub standing very proud in 37m with decks at about 32m costing £25, meet at 0600 Hrs.

Dive 2 i aim to head up to the Unidentified UC near the Cuvier, in about 37m and very proud so decks around 32m again, cost £25, meet at 1145.

Both these wrecks are far enough out that we should still get the stunning viz we have had all week :)

OK Garry you have the 2 places and 2 more tbc can you call me after the Met Office evening update.

As for the reverse profile we often do this, its the tides that dictate where we can go and we get a 5 hour surface interval at least :)

Sorry Paul
Just read the write up on U8, as it is on the Varnes are you expecting to be back at Dover for an 11.45 meet for the second dive?

Yes slack water will be just after 8, but that meet can slip slightly anyway as slack water up channel is a little later. Are you planning another marathon session? :)
