Hi,

I'm looking at starting my BASC course in June(ish) as I'm completing my MSc in zoo conservation biology and have already started planning my PhD in marine conservation (ok, a bit more specific than that but don't want to give my ideas away :p).

I haven't really had a good look around, or got much info yet, but I'm willing to learn. And it's always good to meet like minded people.

Baz :D

Hi Baz,

Plenty of like minded people on here and a lot of good advice should you need it. I would start by looking for local BSAC branches on the main site. Get some contact and pop along for a visit or 2.

The first year costs around 140 pounds for BSAC membership and club membership plus the Ocean diver pack (37 quid included in total). Expect 3-6 months to complete this entry level course.

Just doing OD myself.

Welcome.

I trained at East Cheshire SAC in 1995. My wife was the secretary for a bit, I was training officer for a bit. I may be biased but it's one of the best clubs in the country. Of course, it's gone way downhill since I left. :D

If you want a big, purpose built, modern clubhouse on two floors, 2 boats, minibus, compressor, bar, class room and lots of training and diving, you can't go wrong.

I've visited Macclesfield BSAC to teach on two occasions, and been examined there as well. Brilliant club! Join them!
