Can anyone recommend a recovery service which will recover not only a broken down towing vehicle but also the trailer & boat? Better still any policy which will cover whatever vehicle so long as it is the one doing the towing. Also any policies which will recover the trailer & boat if it's the trailer that 'breaks down'.

Thanks

Hi Tessa

From the RAC FAQ page
***
Will my caravan / trailer be covered?
Under our Recovery service caravans / trailers on tow at the time of a breakdown are covered up to a maximum overall length of 7.6 metres (25'0"). However, if it is your caravan / trailer that has broken down at the roadside and we cannot repair it, we will arrange for it to be recovered but not pay for this. If you are a member of the Camping Caravanning Club, you will be able to benefit from our unique scheme called Arrival. To join the Camping Caravanning Club call 02476 856 797.

I have personal cover, which mean any vehicle I am travelling in.

I know at one time the boat was covered as part of the insurance from Westfield, but you'll have to check the current cover.

keep on diving

Try Brittania rescue, they recovered our trailer no problem.

I've called Britannia Rescue out to a broken trailer fully laden with boat, etc. and towed by someone else's car in which I was a passenger. They recovered the boat and trailer from Loch Goil to Lancashire without demur, though we did secure boat & trailer in the contractor's garage overnight whilst continuing in the tow-car.

I believe RNLI Offshore members have free MSS Marine membership, though I haven't proved this yet.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Dunno! I haven't had to consult them, but their web-site looks interesting. ;-)

When the AA sorted the club's trailer for me after it shed a wheel the guy got me to sign a paper that I DIDN'T want the trailer recovered as he was unsure about the brake lashup we had.
