Hi
I have been trying to get Dive Leader Practicals DO5,6 and 7 done for ages and not got anywhere.
I have even asked a BSAC Centre and they weren't interested. I thought in this climate they may have been eager to take my cash
Is anyone doing any in the North West I can join? It would be greatly appreciated
Simon

Have you checked-out the BSAC regional DL training days? See http://www.bsac.com/courses.asp?section=3721§ionTitle=Dive+Leader+Training+days

Have you looked at the BSAC Sport England training weekends They are doing all the Dive leader open water sessions
Not sure where your nearest would be but next session is Chepstow on 13th march I think
Cheers

Myself & my regular dive buddy are in almost exactly the same position - it appears to be almost impossible to get DO5,6,or 7 done as part of an SDC or as part of one of the new training days.
We are both booked on the BSAC Capernwray day on the 13th March and both have just DO3 & DO7 to do to complete DL. We can do DO3 on the day and I asked about doing D07 on the day but obviously thats down to what everyone else needs to do and the day appears to be more designed to get people started on DL rather than completed.

Look for a PRM SDC, this covers the vast majority of what you want to do.

PRM only covers D05 - and its a really good course
DO6 and DO7 don't appear to be covered by any SDC and are a bit of a problem to get done by that route.
If we can't get them done via the day at Carpernwray then I'll look for some alternatives as we are both North based as well

I've only got my DO7 to do and a DPM2- but thats underway...
I've found that getting my DL done, as been a combination of external SDC's and chasing instructors. to fit a DL leasson into the training day..

I'm at the Capernwray day on the 13th and wouldn't have a problem doing DO 6 or 7, need to be done at some point. Got two of the open water sign offs done via sdcs and would like to get the more 'involved' sessions done at Capernwray. My buddy is in a similar position and would probably be happy to complete any of the sign offs.
Guys,
I live local to Capernwray and am currently teaching the early stages of the BSAC Dive Leader course. If your really struggling then I could possibly help you with the lessons mentioned via our branch Lunesdale SAC.
PM me if you get stuck.

Anyone doing DO7, I am up for travelling round the north, capers or blue lagoon would be ok.
If your prepared to travel to the S Scotland training days, run monthly, we can run you through both these lessons.

Where abouts? Scotland is a big place!
Though if I was to make the journey I wold probably want to make a weekend of it. Possibly a RIB trip out or something on the other day?
Loch Fyne OneDragons.
Have a look at the South of Scotland Regional training that Edward runs every second weekend of the month.
Click on the Fyne-divers link in Edwards signature for more details.

Fair enough, very kind offer. I will see what happens over the next month or so...if I get a free weekend you never know, been up that way before but that was for a long weekend of charted diving. Loch Fyne is very nice.

Hi Yes I totaly agree, but as I said we Instruct on the NW Region Coaching team also so in the UK also. We run a centre down on Anglesey, so can easly accomodate Cappenwray or Vivian or even the SEA! so if you wish to do the mods over a weekend down Anglesey and even bring other club members for a weekend you are more than welcome www.oldsailingschool.com although the azores is very nice. If you get your diveleader and wish to go for advanced we are running a weeks course for AD www.divetheazores.com/adevent.html GOOD LUCK WITH THE TRAINING
