Hi scubbies

I'm trying to find out if I can become a committee member at my club if I am only a social member. I will be rejoining the club as a full diving member early next year but not before the branch AGM. My proposed role will be non diving. Is there anything in the BSAC rules generally that says I cant.

I've asked around the branch but its a bit political at present so whats new. Incidentally I was skint last year and not diving as a result. I was not a happy bunny

regards chappies

I think that the only BSAC rule is that the following branch committee members should also be members of BSAC:
Chairman
Diving Officer
Treasurer
Secretary
I don't think that there is a distinction between BSAC full or abated or student members.

You branch may have it's own rules too. EG: the DO may have to be a full diving member of the branch, or something similar.

If you're planning on becoming something like fund raising officer then I'd imagine they would welcome you with open arms... ;-)

...and since it IS a BSAC rule that if a branch changes its bye-laws then it MST lodge an updated version with HQ (so that they can check that they are not in conflict with the Articles of Association).

You will find the last VERIFIED and properly adopted set of your branch byelaws at HQ.
Anything else passed off as a newer/more up-to-date version was not properly adopted and is therefore not valid!
