View Full Version : Join a club, but busy weekends
Hope someone can help, I have thought of joining a local club but Iwork most weekends. I can manage pool nights etc, and want to learn some extended range/technical skills but w'ont availability at weekends make it impossible? I am a Padi A.I and basic nitrox and live in the north-west.
Many thanks in advance.

Just get in touch with the local clubs, see what they'll do. Some clubs do do dives on an evening during the summer - my own club would organise a hard boat and go out for a dive. I don't think they ever did anything that you'd class as 'extended range' on the evenings, they were always kept when we had all day on a weekend, but other clubs may be different. Certainly worth getting in touch with all the clubs in your area and see what they do - they may have other members in the same situation as you.

Do lots of dives. some would suit you. If you do join a club make sure it does the dive you want to do ?
Check the club rules about tec diving and twin sets ?
and have lots of fun :-)

David,
I echo what has been said. Have a word with the local branches/clubs and see what weekday diving they do. Most branches do some weekday dives during the year, but I'd guess those close to the coast would be able to undertake evening dives in the summer without too many problems (I know of a branch in Newquay, Cornwall where they regularly undertook evening dives in the summer.
I think the key thing is that there may be others in the branch who might like to do some md-week diving and between you it might give you the opportunity to arrange something supported by the club.
Regards.
Bill
