We have just had a young lad of 14 join our branch, normally we would only accept a child of this age if a parent also was a member but this lads uncle is the member in this case.
His mother came with him when he joined and discussed things with me (chairman) and the DO. She has told us that the uncle is effectively the boys guardian whilst he is at the branch.
Everyone is happy with the way this is going to work but we would like to document this properly. I've read the welfare guidelines and it does not really cover what I am after.
I believe in scouting there is a consent form that a parent can sign to appoint someone else as a responsible adult for things like trips away. Anyone come across something similar for diving?
Cheers
Pete
