View Full Version : Mercia Sub Aqua Club Website
Hi Guys,
Ive just thrown together the "version one" site for my BSAC branch.
If you get any free time, id like some constructive comments on its look and feel.
I tried to make it usable on a smart/touch screen phone.(less is more)
We are a training branch 1626 in Coventry trying to rebuild the club numbers.
thanks in advance.
Joe

I couldn't access it, but then I'm a Mac guy.

Looks terrible in Firefox, you have a huge section with just external links then way down the page the main content, 50% off the bottom on my screen.
cool,
what browser does the mac use?
what version of firefox are you using?
seems to work ok in chrome and iE (updated versions)
im not a web designer so this is all hit and miss for me..

I viewed it in Chrome and the content is pushed off the screen by all those adverts.
I take it you are getting significant reward from Screwfix and Stoney Cove?
A good start apart from the top banner.
I liked the gallery and the movies section - think the camera guy needs to discover white balance :)
Oh, I didn't find a link back to the Home from the Forum

Looks like this in firefox 4.0 (beta 11). Needs work...
(see attached jpeg).
it is (IMHO) seriously messy. doesn't seem to follow any particular order - extremely difficult to navigate around. Can't get back to the start easily. A huge excess of adverts.

FF 3.6 (Edit: looks the same as the grab in FF4)
From memory Christian uses Safari.
Also I don't like the font in the graphics, not great to read and as the site is not accessible by a screen reader that could be a problem.
great feed back.
I need to re think the layout.
The forum link back is annoying as the site where its based wont let me do anything like that.
i tried to make a simple looking site but in the process have made a great mess..
ill work on the functionality first and then look at the look and feel after...
its been one of those "i was happy when i made it but then fell out of love when i used it" :)
thanks for the tips and advice. keep it coming.. :)
I would keep all the page links on each page rather than having to go back to the main page each time in order to navigate to another page.

I use Safari, which happens to be the Mac browser, as my browser of preference.
I could just as readily use Google Chrome, Camino or Firefox, but I don't. If I did my preference would probably fall for Firefox - FWIW.

Looked alright to me, using chrome on a PC, widescreen monitor.
Easy to nav, found the basic info quickly.....it is a good base to build on.
