Hi, I have never dived out of Brid. Are there any decent wrecks in the 50-55m range?

Have a chat with the guys who run the Providence dive boat - great boat and being good old rufty tufty Yorkshire divers they know where the good stuff is - some very early starts though!!

There are literally loads of wrecks in the 50-55 metre range out of Brid. Due to the nature of Brid Bay those wrecks are quite a trek from Brid. There are even more wrecks in the 40-50 range due to the fact that the bay is a sort of flat space rather than a thin corridor. The 50 metre contour comes quite close to Flambrough head but then sweeps out eastwards. When the contour sweeps out to the east, the area north of it is rather like sand dunes, some below 50 some above.

Bridlington really is the wreck parasdise of the world. There is a boat compound south of Brid that you can launch your RIB at quite easily. Its a tractor launch over Sand.

The good viz is more south in the Bay. The wrecks of Flambrough are very silty and very difficult to dive even in flat calm weather.

Also happy to recommend Providence charter - I have not done technical diving out of Bridlington but did have a day on Providence for some seasearch activity and found the boat to be very well run. I know from discussion that the boat runs technical dives frequently to numerous sites.

I have looked at chartering again for some sports diver diving but have not really managed to make the numbers work yet for a whole boat charter. I undertsand that there is plenty to go at in the up-to-35m range and have heard diving in the area described as really very good.

It is day-trip territory for me too...hmm, must look at this again for this summer. Would be happy to hear from anyone on the boards who would consider making up spaces for a sport diver trip actually.

Depending when you are planning the trip I might be interested.
Our branch run'expos' (whatever they are) where open water training is signed off, but I have no idea when they are planned for. I will talk to the branch DO to see if I can do the theory bit and will contact you thereafter, again though it depends when you are planning the trip.
From your profile I can't see where you are based or which branch you are a member of.
