Very nice and long overdue but why does have to be an on line version. Is this the way forward for all BSAC manuals? I hope not.

Hi Edward,
The new format looks good, I shall have to plow through it all as soon as I can.
A question for you though: Where should we send e-mails if we find erata in the document?
I ask, as I have found one already, in section 2.1.2 there is a link to a sample risk assessment in Appendix B, however the sample risk assessment is actually in Appendix C.
Please can we have an e-mail link or a form on the site for submitting this.
Thanks
John

Ok, Ok, I shall have to actually read the whole page next time. At the bottom of the section it links to Mary T for e-mails for updates, would that include this kind of thing?
Thanks
John

Disagree. This is exactly the way forward.
What can be better than a dynamic BSAC that has the absolute
latest info ready and available worldwide!
Info that can be updated/adapted as the Sport & circumstances
change. If you need a paper version then simply download/print
the PDF file.
Well done to Edward et al, for getting this online.
Now please can we have the Instructor manual ASAP?
TerryH
Completely brilliant.
Well done and thank you all involved

There is a link at the bottom of the contents page to download a PDF file so you can print the manual out should you wish.
I hope this is the way forward for BSAC manuals, it will save a lot of paper.

Edward, many thanks for all your hard work on this project. A great product that will serve us all well for the coming years.
Next step an online version of the instructor training manual?

Tristan

Ok, I have been working may way through this, and came across the following Gem:
4.6.1 What Equipment does a Branch Need?
An active Branch will need a variety of equipment:
Classroom teaching aids such as projection equipment and screen or a resuscitation manikin.
...
At least one fully equipped boat, for safe and adventurous diving and training.
..
Does this mean that BSAC are now dictating that branches must have a boat?
This would cause my branch at least major problems, as we don't have one, and could not afford one anyway. The reason we don't have boats is that we have nowhere to store them, nor anyone who could tow them, so we use charter boats for any boat diving we do.

Suggest rewording:
4.6.1 What Equipment does a Branch Need?
An active Branch will need _access_to_ a variety of equipment:
Would that cover it?

Agreed, and you don't have to worry about where you last put it down :-)) Well done Edward, very progressive, as are the SDC downloads too

Possibly. It needs to be clear that Branches are not required to own their own boats, if that is the case.

John
If you go on to the next paragraph is says:
"The amount, type and quality of Branch equipment is for the Branch Committee to decide, ..."
But I take your point. If you think it requires clarification please can you make the suggestion for an amendment to the Section owner as identified at the bottom of each page.
