Oban in April

Hi,

My wife and I are going to Oban for the Looooooooong weekend(s) (thanks William)... we're planning on diving with Puffin divers. I've got a place to stay booked for the 25th of April until the 30th.

I would be grateful if anyone could recommend particular dives around the dive centre (shore based and rhibs from puffin).

Also if anyone is a member of or knows any clubs which have booked puffin's day boat over the period from the 26 to the 20th I would love to know if they have any spaces left on those boats.

I have been up with puffin a few times.... as regards to shore dives we only really did dives around the bay where puffin is ;) rumour has it there is a nice scollop bed there at about 12m

As for the boats best thing to do is give Imogen a ring @ puffin she will be able to tell you if there are spaces. Divers can book on ad individuals, the last time we were up there we had 5 of us booked on and were joined by another 3.

When your looking at the cost of diving with Puffin bear in mind that cylinders are included so you dont need to take your own.....oh and the you also get soup and a choc biscuit :)

The reef around the Puffin Centre is good at around 10-12m depth, good for a night dive too.

There's a campsite next door to it is where i stayed so it was easily accessed.

OBAN DIVERS is a good little dive shop, over the hill from PUFFIN (behind that white house) good air and odds and ends.

LOCHLAINE CHARTERS are a nice charter company based out of the mull area, good prices, great skippers and decent boats.

PUFFIN do a decent enough rhib day trip plan, nice for smaller scale stuff.

Shore dives and the like can be found on various sites as well as in trip reports that Eddie put up.

CORRIN HOUSE is a cracking guesthouse in Oban, love it and will always try and stay there.]

Caravan park is quite reasonable as well as PUFFINs guesthouses, though as with everythig listed above, cost, experience and time/timing may dicate.
