Hi there. Is there anyone out there with current FI diving experience please?
I am posted out there in August (civilian)and am intending to take my kit to dive privately if there is no SADs out there. I have spent hours trawling the internet but there is very little information on dive sites, facilities (air at a minimum), water temperature etc. I am a dive leader as is my husband (both with about 400 dives each) and we are hoping to dive and explore together. Thanks very much. Sarah

Can't help you with the FI but if you can manage to stay over in Ascension for a few days during transit the diving can be excellent. :p

But on a serious note (Moi?), I'd write a quick note addressed OIC Diving OR The Adventure Training Officer OR the PT Office.
Any one of them should elicit a response. Good luck - take lots of warm clothes - whatever the time of year!! ;)

Oi - I resemble that! I was a Mech, and just sometimes was paid to think, but OMG it hurt my head! :D
An expedition went there a couple of years ago and they had to take everything including RIBs and compressors. Not sure if there are any diving businesses down there.

Sarah,
Simon Campbell lead the FI expedition & prepared its report; I have never been anywhere near the Falklands. I suggest you email him (http://simoncampbell.com/contact/) for a chat & a copy of the report.

Sarah,
You should attempt to contact the OP in the following link from ScubaBoard as he may be in the Falklands at this very moment - http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/south-america/337975-falkland-islands-diving.html
I was on that Exped. It was organised by Darwen BSAC who did a storming job of pulling it together. By all means feel free to PM me with any questions. Some of the very best diving I've ever done and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Huh?
Isn't that pretty well exactly what David Cowan said just three posts earlier?

Not really, I'm being just a little wary of this new poster.
