First off......HAPPY NEW YEAR to everybody!!!!
I've been using a dive rite transpac harness (soft back) I bought about 2yrs ago. Its been great love it.....but I want to change now to a stainless steel backplate. Does anybody know if I can intergrate MY harness and purchase the backplate only OR will I have to purchase another harness and backplate seperate??.... it would save me time and money which I'm sure we're keen on!
Regards

If you want to keep the Transpac system then you need something different. I think Dive Rite call it the Transplate. You can use your existing wing but the harness can't be used.
Or you can get a roll of webbing and a few d-rings and try a one pieve harness.

a one peice harness is pretty cheap iirc the webbing and Drings set i got from venture sports was around £25 and i had a spare buckle kicking around.
and to set it up.

Thank you. Thats very useful information!!

Bit late on the reply but on the one piece harness you could also consider putting a buckle in one or both shoulders.
It doesn't have to be a complete break if you don;t want one, just an extended loop of webbing to make donning and doffing easier.
This is especially useful when de-kitting in lumpy seas trying to ket back on board a Rib
