Are you sure it's an 'inner' ear problem?
Have you had a doctor look at it? You may have a ruptured eardrum, which is in your 'middle' ear.

Hmmm... good point, but you wouldn't know that from his profile.

Might I suggest Chris, that you add your qualifications to your profile? I know who you are, but 'Micky' might not.
Asking him to contact you privately about a medical matter without mentioning you are a highly placed medical referee with years of experience as a Doctor & BSAC member, might not be the best idea.
I'm not having a go, just making a suggestion.
