Hi there, I'm working on a project to design and prototype a specialist rebreather unit as part of my final year of an industrial design and technology degree. I was looking to find out what the deepest and longest dive times recorded to date are (world records). I'm sure someone will know...
Also, I'm particularly interested in cave diving. Does anyone know the records for the longest and deepest cave dives ever? And any additional snippets of info about cave diving would be great too.
Thanx in advance!!

Surely this has got to be a troll? :)
Divers working in Industry have dove longer and deeper than any recreational divers by significant margins, all of it is readily available on the internet.
If recreational records are what you're after look up- John Bennet, EKPP, WKPP, Wakulla2, Brittanic.
For example- <a href="http://www.ekpp.de/projects/doux03/push.html" >http://www.ekpp.de/projects/doux03/push.html</a>
IMVHO, you can't even begin to think about designing a rebreather unless you have read the following sites-
<a href="http://www.nobubblediving.com/" >http://www.nobubblediving.com/</a>
and
<a href="http://www.therebreathersite.nl/" >http://www.therebreathersite.nl/</a>
Between them they have almost every rebreather ever made and some besides, including almost every modification anyones ever made.
(No offense but I would suggest designing a rebreather, even a simple one is alot more work than is required to get a degree, I've got a degree and tried to design rb before, I know :) Why not just focus on one part- like a good scrubber?)
