I will be out in Vladivostok in July or October next year doing some investigative dives with a Russian mate (and also doing some of his BSAC Advanced Diver training... the furthest away BSAC member from HQ?)
Other divers welcome to make a group.
Diving will be from a local boat, camping on uninhabited islands. Open Circuit is fine. O2 to 120 bar is available and any lime will need to be shipped months in advance.
Cost will be about £550-750 for a week plus flights (about £500 return from UK)
Water will be between 10 and 23 degrees at the surface and down to 4 degrees at depth.
Wrecks, reefs and giant sea life

Will do :-)

Following discussion about the weather and visibility, we are going in October when the weather is colder (17-20 degrees) but far more settled and hence visibility will be 10-30 metres.

Rebreathers will be catered for and it looks to be shaping up to be a very interesting trip

Gordon,

when i was there in December, we were getting 1m+ snow falls ove night. The only RELIABLE flights in and out were from Seoul, as they put their planes through an antifreeze spray, which the Russians do not...

flying that time of year, i'd really stronlgy consider flying in via Seoul........

Yes - December in Vladivostok is winter
Average -13 to -7 degrees
October average is 5 to 13 and this October it was hitting 25 degrees but sometimes dropped to zero

Flying in via Seoul????

That's the best options provided you can avoid the missiles flying from North to South.....!!!

weather there is pretty similar to Edinburgh today :-)

Except their buses seem to be coping and they are clearing the pavements

Considering it significantly further south than Edinburgh (being roughly the same latitude as the south of France) perhaps that is not suprising

well - it is surprising given that they regularly get -20 to -30 in winter while we barely get under zero here in Edinburgh...funny old thing weather, no respect for lines of latitude :-)
