I'm considering going to Taba, Red Sea (the Movenpick) in February. Has anybody been and can tell me what kind of suit they needed and how cold it feels? I'm reading conflicting info on this and other sites. I've only ever dived in the tropics, in a shortie or bikini (lowest temp I've ever recorded was 26 degrees). I'm quite small which isn't great for cold or finding suits, so I'd really like some advice!

Thankyou
Jenny

Hi Jenny

Taba is nice but the diving can be a little restricted as it is in Nuweiba. Dahab has a greater range of dive sites. You pays your money and takes your choice.

The question of kind of suit to wear is a personal choice. For me a 5 mil semidry does it. There are others here who wouldn't go into the water there at this time with nothing less than a drysuit. One thing to bear in mind is that it sometimes there can be a chilly wind in this area in the early year months. So wrap up warm if you have to apres dive. :)

Sea hasnt dropped as much this year as last year but expect 21-22c maximum with a strong wind.

Id only consider a drysuit for exposure protection there. We had people cold in 7mms last year in roughly that temperature and they ended up layering 5mms on top of 7mms in an attempt to stay warm.
