I just got back from a weeks diving in the carribean. On my final dive my Vyper played some really weird tricks on me.
I tend to use this machine in guage mode as I normally dive a VR3, but I took the Vyper on its own on holiday as IMO holiday diving doesnt usually need 2 computers.
Anyway, on my final dive I had come up for a 3 min safety stop and a couple of minutes into my stop the screen just froze at a depth of 5.8M and with two mins of stops still to do.
Not a problem in the situation I was in, but I hate to think what may have happened had I a load of deco to do and if I was deep at the time (OK OK lesson learned),
So, anyone had a similar problem with a Vyper? I've done about 200 dives on the machine with no previous issues. Battery was showing almost full

Alan,
I use the same computer but haven't had any problems like you describe. What did Suunto say?
If you haven't asked them, they have a really good feedback system. Go to www.suunto.com and use the "FAQ & Help Desk" and fill in the details of what happened in the "Ask Suunto a Question" section. They came back to me with an answer in about 24 hours (I really was just hard of understanding when I read the user manual - but it was a service I was pleased I used).
Cheers,
Tristan

Hi Tristan,
I just got back yesterday so was intending to ring Suunto Uk tomorrow as I assumed they would not be around at the weekend.
I'll try the web systemas you suggest. Thanks.

I had a similar problem with my vyper when I had done about 30 dives with it. The screen froze just after switching it on, prior to a dive. It did not reactivate itself upon entering the water, so I aborted the dive (having no back -up).
As I live about 5 minutes from Suunto, I drove to them and explained the problem. They didn't ask any questions, just gave me a brand new one FOC!

To be fair to Suunto they replied right away and asked me to send it to them. They promised a 7 day turn around. I didnt manage to post it until Friday though. If I find out what the problem was I'll let you know.
Have to be honest though, even if they sent me a d9, it wouldnt replace my VR3
