Could anyone give me some feedback on getting and using a "pee valve" for long dives?
Do they leak, fitting , ease of use / effectiveness etc.
I've been quoted ?65 to get one fitted in my cordura drysuit.
Many thanks,
Ben.

I bought the O3 one and fitted it myself. The only problems using it are emotional. Switching on the first time. You *know* it's going to leak but it never does.
Also buy the disposables by mail order - asking the 15 year old girl who lives just up the road from you and is working Saturdays at the chemist shouldn't be a problem, you just want "male incontinence sheaths in small" but they're cheaper by post anyway.

It doesn't worry me. Anyhow I get any amount of email offering to sell me stuff to fix it.

*** I bought the 'balancd' one from 5th Dimension, it's made made by 'Extreme Exposure.' (Scuse the unintentional pun)
Do they leak, fitting , ease of use / effectiveness etc.
*** Never leaked, but hygiene is important, i.e. warm and moist = things growing ;-)
Make sure you give it a good dousing in disinfectant after use.
WRT the sheaths, don't be shy or BS. It must be the correct sized sheath, else too big & it will leak, too small and you'll have a REAL head-ache :-(
I've been quoted ?65 to get one fitted in my cordura drysuit.

These do make a significant difference on long exposures, and in my bbok weel worth the dosh. However, make sure that you have remembered whether it is fitted or not, b4 U turn the tap on ;-)

Worst case scenario is wet socks !! My mate has given up with his i suppose it depends how long you intend to be in the water, It was however great fun to see him on the surface showing off the new addition to his othree dry suit and pee coming out of the valve then the sudden look of horror when he realised his leg was filling up !!
Ahh the look on his face

For some reason there is a taboo on pee-valves, the websites give you little information.... strange.
They don't leak if you fit them correctly, if you don't they do leak pee all over your legs/undersuit and its smelly, never ha d a leek myslef, never had a seawater leak either although I suppose its possible.
Fitting to the suit is easy enough and covered elsewhere online, plus you said you had been quoted a fitted price.
Fitting the sheath to yourself is easy enough, much the same as a condom except its thicker, shorter and has a huge hole in one end. This needs stretching over the connector to the hose each time which is the longest part of fitting, but this can be done hours before at home- please don't do it on the boat it puts me off my food. :)
Can't speak for you but most people I've met agree that an amount of "trimming" is required for comfort and easy removal of the sheath. Steal a ladyshave off your missus and clean up the "shaft" area were the sheath needs to stick- yes stick, they have a glue on the inside so they don't fall off, it seems to last allday with ease (afterall they use them in Hospitals all the time.)
Goes without saying that you should be bl**dy careful if you do this, after a hot shower seems best, I found it was easy enough. :)
Effectiveness? Well they allow you to pee in safety. Once you've learnt how to "go" without holding and aiming at a toilet its okay, might take abit of learning. Generally the more organised, kit fiddling divers seem to have less trouble than the sling it in the corner, fix that reg on the way down brigade.
If your not sure try a nappy instead, very easy and reasonably effective, also they work great for girls, much better than having to strip off when stuck on a RIB all day with a bunch of lads, they can just sit in the corner and "take the p*ss" so to speak.

Alternatively, you can get some quick-connects & negate the whole problem - one click, and off you go!

A bit of stretchy fabric with a hole in can keep hair from being a problem without having to resort to shaving...
