Hiya folks
Just bought a VR3 & in the manual it says you shouldn't use your Laptop infrared port but but the Delta P version. Is this true or a financial ploy?
Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob
It is perfectly true.
Go have a look at this <a href="http://www.vr3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16" >http://www.vr3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16</a>
BTW: I have a professional interest in this although I do not work directly for DeltaP.
When the first VR3 prototypes were made most laptops supported the flavour of IR that the VR3 uses and you did not need a special adaptor. Bill Gates came along and changed all that by introducing what was an unusual flavour of IR, natively to Windows. The cost of developing support for Windows flavour IR would seriously inflate the cost of the VR3 so DeltaP decided to sell an adaptor instead.
It may look expensive but you have to take into account the development and support costs of the software that is also supplied and the dealer markup. DeltaP actually supply the IR adaptor pretty much at cost.
