I had a suspected case of DCI in Oz about 18 months ago. Conservative diving 18m 2hr SI 15m (well within PADI Standards) but I had had a couple of drinks the night before (I now never drink before or after diving!) but had tried to stay hydrated. I had tingling all over my body all night after the dive and saw a diving doctor in Oz who thought it was simply dehydration. I carried on diving 4 days later and there were no other problems.

In Scapa recently (April) I had left elbow and right elbow pain after 5 days diving to 25-35m. 2 dives a day. I had had some asecent warning on approx 1/2 my dives (Warning at over 12m/min)I did 5 hours in the pot on O2 and was told not to dive for seven days.

Recently (having not dived since) I got the same pains that had prompted me to seek treatment. I phoned my diving doctor to see if the symptoms of DCI can lie dormant but said no.

I am beginning to think that i didn't get DCI.............Denial I know but...

...if you only had 1x treatment it appears they gave you a "rule out" and came to the same conclusion.

(most cases of DCI need 3-4 tx over several days & it's at least a month before you're able to dive again)

Here's a link for divers intending to visit the far east....

Although some of the sensations may make you think of DCI I am pretty sure that the response was purely precautionary. The elbow pains could easily be a strain through lugging that amount of kit for a number of days. I am pretty sure that in mose cases where there is tingling of the skin there is usually pain in the long bone joints as well at the same time. As we all know it is possible to get DCI even when diving within the tables. The best thing is to take the usual precautions and have a day free of diving every 3 or 4 days.

Thanks for that Dave, but the Diving Doctor who issued me with my HSE Medical Cert. said I did get a hit......

I just want to keep diving (sounds familiar doesn't it...!)

Cheers
