GPS Software

I have a handheld Garmin GPS 48. Does anyone know some good (cheap/free) software which I can use to download to a PC and then see a chart/map of my waypoints displayed on it. That also goes the other way around, from download from PC to GPS?

Any ideas would be gratefully received.
