Buy the third you mention and just go diving. In 2 years time you may want something else, but you'll probably just want a second set as spares.

Hi,
I've got the Scubapro regs and they are very lovely,
but if I was buying new again now, I'd be going for the current deal on Apeks ATX40 regs:
http://www.divelife.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2852
or here:

Other shops are doing similar deals on these too.
Great regs and a totally bargain price too!
Enjoy!:)
Cheers,
Mark.

Or you could get the ATX40 instead of the XTX. This will be even cheaper leaving more money for diving and will do everything you need for years and years.
All the regs will do the job and am sure you would be happy.
I've got the Aqualung Legend ACD and am more than happy with this. Good breathe, no problems. I mainly use it as my teaching or holiday regulator as I mainly use a rebreather. The ACD is quite nice when abroad particularly on liveaboards when the cylinder filling person doesn't bother putting your dust cap on whilst filling. So a vote for this one, but I'd happily use any of your choices.

Are the ATX40 as good as the XTX40 as there is a big difference in price?

The breathing of the two is practically identical the differences being that the xtx is slightly smaller and can be changed so that the low pressure hose enters from the left as opposed to the right (can be handy if using on twins or side slung tins)
I have 3 sets of ATX and find them bomb proof, i have been in water of 2c and not had a free flow, ive used them down to 50m and breathing is as easy as at 10m

The first stage is identical, the second stage is similar. Only differences in the real world are that the XTX can have the hose on either side whereas the ATX it is fixed on the right and the ATX has a smaller exhaust "T".
