We're off to the Maldives in October, and although the flights are booked we're yet to settle on a resort (but it will be a resort not a boat). We're both pretty experienced divers, and would really like to see Mantas and, possibly, Whale Sharks. Mid-range budget would be good... and we'd prefer beach bungalow type rather than hotel block.

Any suggestions for islands that are good in October? At the moment we're looking at Helengeli or Angaga, but happy to think of others at that sort of price level.

Thank you!

Ben

Now I am just jealous all over again, enjoy all of it as I am sure you both will

If you go to the Manta cleaning station and they are not there, just wait till everyone else has gone, that is what we did twice and we were rewarded for the wait.

My buddy specifically wanted a picture of a manta, and I was prepared to just circle the pinnacle (ridge) for 30 mins as there was lots to see, as it was we only had to wait till the other divers were out of sight and a manta popped up out of the depths and positioned itself just in front of us, spent an amazing 15 minutes holding buddy with one hand rock with other so he could use both hands on the camera in the current, staring and watching the cleaner wrasse doing their stuff, no more than 18" in front of us

amazing

Don't forget to tell everyone- and I mean everyone- that you're on your honeymoon.

well in that case definitley enjoy.........actually will tell you at the weekend just in case other half is sad enough to look on here as well, rather than adding the rest

but make sure the resort knows that it is your honeymoon
