View Full Version : Corrective Mask lenses
I know this topic has been on before but did not address my question I think. I need 1.5 + corrective reading glasses on land and have been using those pretty good stick-on lenses in my mask for some time, but they are a bit fiddly and small, and I have to look down and to the left to read my gauges. The thing is that the eye-to-mask lense distance is different than the normal eye to reading glass distance, which changes the focal point and so underwater I am using 2.5+ inserts. These are now not quite strong enough and does anyone know how you determine which corrective lenses to order based on landlubbers prescription? If I order lenses for my Tusa, they will be about £30 a piece so I want to get it right! Any help gratefully received, other than trial and error!

Try disposable contact lenses. The current SWMBO has long sight issues and getting working lenses in a mask is a real problem. A lens in your non-dominant eye will enable you to see your instruments, but your dominant eye will take care of distance sight. It's weird, but the brain sorts it out a treat.
The 'old' pair of glasses in the mask trick works for some, but it won't for every one. For example, my nose won't let me accomodate a pair of glasses inside any mask that will fit me correctly. I tried it long ago, but the first time I did a mask clear in sea water, the glasses fogged up and I was blind.

Well I am pretty sure that Tusa work it out for you. I ordered my lenses for my Tusa Liberator Plus from Simply Scuba. Living up the road, went down and had a chat. Gave them my perscription and they just selected the drop down box and hit checkout (yes I ordered them through the online shop from the shop in the corner of their warehouse) Mine work fine. I can see out of the water as well as under it.
