All,
Does anyone know BSAC's policy on the use of underwater scooters on branch dives?
My initial reason for deciding to post this was in response to a post by someone on a "northern based diving forum". I have since realised that it is something I have no idea about so I will be very interested in any replies.
I have searched on the website and can't find anything about it, does anyone know/use a scooter/have any other information?

I never considered that there might be a policy.
However can I warn you that if you take a scooter anywhere everybody wants to play.

I put "Diver Propulsion Vehicle" into the search on the home page and got six matches. All very interesting! The answer to your question is there.

Nothing to do with policy, but...
8 acre lakes (near Hull) is now lending/hiring(?) out DPVs for use in the dive lake
They're also selling "basic" DPVs for ?100 !!!

....further to earlier answers please consider the potential dangers re ears or lung over expansion injuries when using UPV's. It's suprisingly easy for your depth to flutuate by 3-5m when you're enjoying yourself: )

It's in the Safe Diving Practices, here:
<a href="http://www.bsac.org/techserv/sdpdh.htm" >http://www.bsac.org/techserv/sdpdh.htm</a>
Not sure why it's not listed in the index page though. (another page to be updated ...)
Cheers,

Vobster Quay in Somerset are hiring out DPV's to divers who have used them before, for those that haven't used them they offer a familiarisation dive (probably not called that but you get the idea!)
