View Full Version : link from bsac.org page
The forum link from the main BSAC page takes you to a redirect, I assume
this is not what one actually wants
Tony
well spotted - I am sure one of the admins will fix it, there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes including getting the old threads transferred across to the new format
Meantime welcome

Yeah :( Sorry about that Tony, I only put those redirects in this morning, before then it was even worse than that!
It's organised (?) chaos behind the scenes back here, we knew that was going to happen, it's a virtually impossible task syncronising something major like a forums change across the multitude of links we've got (and everybody else has got) to the old forums. PLUS... it's not quite as simple as a few link changes - we've not only upgraded the forums, they are in fact running on our brand new web server that we've just commissioned (last week actually). So add into the overall equation the fact that all of our existing web sites like bsac.org need to be migrated to the new web server (over the next few weeks) and you'll begin to appreciate what we're up against - plus we are trying to keep downtime to an absolute minimum (normally none, hopefully minutes, hours at the most).
OK, that's the excuse, here's what we're doing about it -
We've put in the redirects system to tide us over for a few weeks.
We've virtually frozen updates to existing web sites as they are about to be migrated.
Over the comming weeks we're going to be moving the existing web sites to the new server.
When a web site comes across it will be tested and at that point we'll change things like the forums links URL's.So I'm going to ask you to bear with us for a while on this one, it's going to take a few weeks to sort out as we migrate web sites over, hopefully as sites on the new server become live the problem will magically vanish! But what would be a massive help is what you've just done Tony - report a fault to us. If you (or anybody else) finds any more of these then can you please add a post to this thread, ideally posting the URL of the page giving the problem, then we've got a list to work from as we migrate the webs sites to the new server.
OK, sorry about the geek content, but the basic gist is... we know about it, we're working on it, it would help us a lot if you told us of any that you find. We'll get there, but what you're actually seeing here is the biggest change and upheaval in the BSAC web systems we've ever had - that's why the BSAC Anorak In Chief is bashing seven shades of .... out of his computer
Cheers - and thanks

Hi Keith
Can I suggest you change the www.bsac.org "General Forum" (and other "pointers") to point to the new forums (fora)
Thanks

Post moved Nick :)
It all looks good now !
As a complete muppet I can't log on to the members pages (I have entered my membership details) , I emailed 'webmaster' from the forum page - I assume that is actually the forum webmaster, rather than the website one.
Tony
(i got so frustrated with not getting in, I nearly started trying SQL injection ;-) )
