I was in my local Tescos the other day, I couldn't resist it, I got one of the special packs of Jaffa Cakes, huge thing - sold as "A Yard Of Jaffa Cakes".

Now, a thought occurs... under some weird EU directive I am sure that it is illegal to sell things by imperial measurement : Have I broken the law by buying a yard of something? Am I about to be raided by the European Citizenship Police who will confiscate my Jaffa Cakes? Should I make a formal complaint to Trading Standards about the local Tesco breaking EU law? Are McVitie's themselves in breach of some Eurpoean Convention and about to be put out of bussiness?

Not quite sure what to do about this one, by buying a yard of something am I about to be branded anti-European or something and thrown in jail?

Keith,

Just to be on the safe side I think you'd better send them to someone outside the EU that you trust to look after them  .

If the police call on me I'll swallow the evidence :D .

Cheers,
Tristan

I think it depends on whether they are 'Cakes' or 'Biscuits'...........or is that the VAT question?

I think you should count yourself lucky the EU is here. Now they know about the offending Jaffas - the company will be forced to extend to a full metre pack. More food!!!!

Are they round or square?

If they understand binary, they could well be square!

Ah, but there are only 10 types of people, those who understand binary and those who don't :D

WANTED
For Measurement Crimes Against the European State

A warrant is hereby issued for the immediate arrest and detention of the BSAC Forums user ‘Keith’ for the possession an item of an illegal measurement.
Oh dear :( I’ve really put my 30.48cm in it this time, somebody has grassed me up to Scotland 0.9144 Meter and the European Measurements Police are hot on my tail. Anybody who thinks that I don’t take such matters seriously is 1.609344Km’s out, I’ve pleaded for leniency but they wont budge an 25.4mm. I’ve had no choice but to go to ground with my Jaffa Cakes –

The Jaffa Cake Fugitive Makes A Break For It

My lawyers are working around the clock on this one, the consensus is that a Jaffa Cake is essential to human wellbeing. There could be hope under the European Convention On Human Rights if we can establish that a Jaffa Cake is in fact a basic human right and therefore protected under that legislation. Wish me luck on this one.

I've never seen anything so sad in my life!
(ROFLMAO though!)

Keith - you obviously have FAR too much time on your hands!
(or a new digital camera that needed playing with!)

BTW... how did you manage to get so far from your PC that there were TREES around you? I heard that if you stray outside the range of a wireless network that you fade and start to lose definition!

But whatever you do Keith, don't send them to Melbourne as they'll get too hot and end up melting. I'd be sending them to somewhere at least 600km south of there. (But only 70 mins by plane)
